Fully Serviced Antique Singing Bird Box by Bontems with Case and Bird Key

 

Presented in an elaborate floral-engraved gilt case with elegantly rounded corners. The extensively worked exterior is covered with intricate floral decoration, giving the case a wonderfully luxurious appearance and catching the light from every angle. At the centre is a beautifully feathered bird displaying a dazzling array of colours, with its plumage coming alive as it moves and sings. The bird box is framed with a green velvet plinth within a sumptuous crimson leather case. The contrasting colours create a richly coloured and theatrical setting that complements the brilliance of the bird itself. The combination of finely engraved gilt work, vivid plumage and richly coloured interior makes this an especially impressive example of the classic Bontems singing bird, made in Paris around 1880.
